Gingerbread

Ingrients & Directions


2 1/4 c Flour
1/3 c Sugar
1 c Dark molasses
1/4 c Hot water
1/2 c Shortening
1 Egg
1 ts Soda
1 ts Ginger
1 ts Cinnamon
1/4 ts Salt

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour 9-inch by 9-inch by 2-inch
square pan. Measure all ingredients into large mixer bowl; blend 1/2 minute
at low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat three minutes at medium speed,
scraping bowl occa- sionally. Pour into pan. Bake 50 min- utes, or until
wooden pick inserted into center comes out clean. Serve warm, and if
desired, with whipped cream or applesauce. You can pour chocolate sauce
over it, and it’s very good! +
