1/2 c Shortening
1 c Sugar
1 Egg
2 c Plain flour
1 ts Baking soda
1 ts Cinnamon
2 c Apples (or more); pared &
-chopped
2/3 c Nuts; chopped
1/2 ts Cloves; ground
1/2 ts Salt
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg; beat well. Sift together
flour, soda, salt, cloves and cinnamon. Add to shortening mixture; then
stir in apples and nuts. Pour into 9″ greased loaf pan. Bake 1 hour at 350
Let stand until cool. Remove bread from pan and sprinkle with
confectioner’s sugar.
