2 c Cake flour
2 ts Baking Powder
1/4 ts Salt
1/2 c Butter; or shortening
1 c Sugar
2/3 c Milk
1 ts Vanilla
3 Egg whites; stiffly beaten
Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and salt and sift together
three times. Cream butter thoroughly add sugar gradually, and cream
together until light and fluffy. Add flour, alternately with milk a small
amount at a time, beating after each addition until smooth. Add vanilla.
Fold in egg whites quickly and thoroughly. Bake in two greased 8-inch layer
pans in moderate oven (375 degrees F.) 25 to 30 minutes. Spread Fresh
Strawberry Frosting ( see recipe between layers and on top and sides of
cake. Spread Fresh Strawberry Glace ( see recipe 43 ) over frosting,
letting it run down on sides: Let stand 1 hour to become firm.
