Zaartar, a blend of herbs, is very popular with those in the Middle East.
It is made up of thyme, sesame seeds or chick-peas, and sumac bark. You can
buy this mixture in any Middle Easter grocery or delicatessen. You can use
it for many dishes.

Cut each loaf of bread into 8 wedges. Separate the wedges so that each loaf
offers 16 wedges.

Mix the remaining ingredients together to form a paste. Brush the coarse
side of each of the wedges with a bit of the paste. Place on a cookie sheet
and broil until lightly browned on top. Watch these carefully.

Makes 32 pieces.
