Orange And Date Bread

Ingrients & Directions


1 c Butter or margarine, soft 1 ts Salt
2 c Sugar 1 1/3 c Buttermilk
3 Eggs 1 c Chopped dates
4 c Flour 1 c Chopped pecans or walnuts
1 ts Baking soda 1 tb Grated orange rind

-GLAZE-
1/4 c Orange juice 2 tb Grated orange rind
1/2 c Sugar

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, beat well. Combine
dry ingredients and add alternately with the
buttermilk. Fold in walnuts, dates and orange rind.
Pour into two 8 1/2 inch greased and floured pans and
bake at 350F. degrees for about an hour. Comb

NOTES: Can be made ahead and frozen. From Taste of
