Raisin/date Bread Pudding

Ingrients & Directions


4 c Milk 1 ts Vanilla extract
5 c Day-old bread cubes 1/2 ts Ground cinnamon
1 c Sugar 1 ds Salt
8 ea Eggs — beaten 1 ds Ground nutmeg
1/2 c Butter or margarine — Additional sugar, cinnamon
Melted And nutmeg, opt
1/4 c Dates — chopped Whipped cream, optional
1/4 c Raisins

In a large bowl, pour milk over bread. Add sugar, eggs, butter, dates,
raisins, vanilla, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg; stir to mix well; Pour
into a greased 13-in. x 9-in, x 2-in. baking dish. If desired,
sprinkle top with additional sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bake at 350
deg. for 55 minutes or until golden brown and a knife inserted near
the center comes out clean. Serve warm with whipped cream if desired.
Yield: 10-12 servings.
