2 3/4 c Sifted flour
1 1/2 ts Salt
1 1/2 c Sugar
2 ts Baking powder
1 c Shortening
3 Eggs
3/4 c Milk
1 ts Vanilla
1 ts Almond extract
1/2 c Chopped walnuts
Beat together flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, shortening, and eggs. Add
milk, vanilla, and almond extract. Beat on high for 3 minutes. Stir in
nuts. Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 375 for 50-60 minutes
DO NOT OVERBAKE. This cake has a tendency to be very dry if not taken out
as soon as it is done. Test with an inserted knife – if it comes out clean,
it’s done.
Sprinkle with confectionary sugar. Serve with whipped cream.
